Repertoire

Bach Invention No. 1 in C major

  •  Before each time you practice, list 3 things you want to accomplish, each of which can be done in 10 minutes or less. It can be as short as a single measure, but have a specific thing you want to accomplish, like detached 8th notes, or getting comfortable with the notes, etc.
  • Work difficult areas VERY slowly, treating the 8ths as 16th note + 16th rest so when you play, RH comes off the key when your LH plays the next note
  • Pick only a very small segment to play this way and don’t move on (probably 1 measure or less), but repeat it several times until you have many repetitions of playing it correctly

Chopin Prelude Op 28 No 6

  • m. 7-8, we want to really bring out RH top note
  • work on memorizing
  • any phrases you have memorized, work on interpretation ideas. Think of the most important note of the phrase, and how you can use dynamics and timing to highlight them
