Minuet in G p. 6

  • Focused Work: Do (3) 5-minute segments. Choose a very small passage (like 1 or 2 measures only) that you have trouble with. Figure out what mistake you tend to make there and what you should be playing, then practice it several times until easy. Move on to the next 5-minute segment and repeat.
  • Play-Through Days: Play through the entire piece 2 times during the week to see how your Focused Work is going
  • for one or two days this week: play through VERY slowly with metronome set to around 80 bpm for the 8th note

Clementi Sonatina p. 16-17

  • put hands together for Exposition – VERY slowly with counting out loud – do this for (1) 5-10 minutes
  • spend extra time on difficult measures for your remaining (2) segments
  • move on to work on Development and Recapitulation working hands separately one line at time as you write in fingerings then put together with counting

Tarantelle p. 34-35

  • Focus on dynamic contrast to make it more exciting
  • RH very slowly, play each note staccato with firm fingertips FORTISSIMO – don’t let the joints collapse, and make sure we can see your knuckles
