Sept 16, 2025
Rhythm
4-part Lap Map:
- improvise rhythms as you tap on the beats
- try not to look at your lap as you do this, but look at the picture and imagine that’s your lap
4-Part Longy Rhythm:
- do this with the Lap Map
Technique
Review C major scale (see sheet)
- practice hands separately a few times, then try putting hands together
Keep practicing Racing Bikes p. 18
- count out loud
- add dynamics
Learn Magic Doorbells and Legend of the Buffalo p. 19-21
- write in counting and count out loud
- do 3-10-3 for each of these. Only do it for one day
- add dynamics
Lessons
Learn Rain Forest p. 34
- count out loud
- just play this a couple of times until easy (it doesn’t need the 3-10-3 method of learning)
Keep practicing Lightly Row p. 35
- since we already learned this with 3-10-3, just play through this once first to see what still needs work. Then do the 3-10-3 just for those sections you made a mistake on (see Performance for how to do 3-10-3 if you forgot)
- the next day, be sure to add dynamics as you play through this once or twice until you get them all in
Theory
Do p. 22-25
Performance
Learn Square Dance p. 16-17
- count out loud every time you play
- use the 3-10-3 method of learning songs:
1. Do 2-4 measures at a time (if they are one hand at a time, do 4, if it’s hands together, do 2). Play that section 3 times in a row. Then wait 10 seconds, then play it again 3 times. Then move on to the next section and do 3-10-3 again, until the whole song is learned - 2. Skip repeated measures
- The next day, play through the song first to see how it is. Any measures you make a mistake on, do 3-10-3 for it
- add dynamics
