  • Do 5-Part Lap Map, making up your own rhythms. You can look at the Longy rhythms and choose ones you see there to try
  • Then do 5-Part rhythm the “old” way
  • stop if you make a mistake and figure out what the mistake was and which of the 3 causes of error it was

Play D Major Scale and Chords

  • hands separately looking at the keys, put hands together when easy
  • remember all F’s and C’s are sharped
  • use the same fingering as C major scale

  • once this is easy to play LH alone, then try improvising a RH in the corresponding 5-finger scale

Learn Aardvark and Whirling Leaves p. 44-47

  • Count out loud
  • Use the 3-10-3 method: Play a very small segment (1-2 measures) 3 times in a row, wait 10 seconds, then repeat another 3 times. Continue this until you’ve completed the whole piece
  • The next day, play the piece start to finish to see how it goes. Repeat 3-10-3 wherever it’s needed.
  • Do 3-10-3 for only one piece per day when first learning it
