You can do some harmonic analysis with this Bach Chorale: ach bleib bei uns herr jesu christ
Repertoire
Bach Invention No. 1 in C major
- Work difficult areas VERY slowly, treating the 8ths as 16th note + 16th rest so when you play, RH comes off the key when your LH plays the next note
- Pick only a very small segment to play this way and don’t move on (probably 1 measure or less), but repeat it several times until you have many repetitions of playing it correctly
Chopin Prelude Op 28 No 6
- For LH, whenever possible (except in places where it’s not the melody), try to make this legato. This will help in keeping that note ringing out over the RH and give you more control. Make sure as you play that you are listening for the melody – if you can’t hear it then it needs to be louder
- Play LH as written, and RH ghost all the notes, this can help with getting more balance
- when you play RH be sure to hold down quarter notes to help with control
