Technique/Scales

Theory/Sightreading

Ab major scale (two 8va), arpeggios (two 8va) – hands separately, then together. Try to add in as much of gestures/rotation as possible. Keep fingers as curved as possible

Ploger: 6-Part Lap Map p. 68 improv

  • try going back to do 4-part or 5-parts to see how those go

6-part Longy Rhythm – do this without Lap Map, tapping on beat 1 only and whispering on dots. Use your good coach to remind yourself to go through the tough section first, then do entire right side, then start from beginning. When you can do this without a mistake, then you can add Lap Map

  • Try to keep going if you make a mistake – identify the cause of error, and apply the correct cure in time
  • Theory – RCM Book 6 Unit 8 (and Exam at the end)
  • Sight Reading 5 Unit 13

Ensemble piece: Amazing Grace Notes

Repertoire

Bach Prelude in C Minor BWV 999

  • Work on individual measures, starting with a more difficult one, playing hands together form beat 1 to the downbeat of the next measure. Cycle through this several times until you have lots of repetitions without mistakes. Try to speed it up as it gets easier to play
  • Do straight play-throughs only once every couple of days

The Limpid Stream – use this version Limpid Stream better copy

  • continue slowly hands together
  • LH A section play legato (this will help not getting out of sync)
  • RH legato in A section – you cqn do this without pedaling
  • B section block RH and LH together as quarter notes on each beat to help get more of a connection between the hands
