Technique/Scales
Scale and arpeggios – do 2 or 3 keys this week. If you feel you need more work on C, G, and D major, continue with these another week. Otherwise, go onto A, E and B major
Theory
None this week
Repertoire
Beethoven Op 49 No 2, 1st movement: Beethoven Op. 49 No. 2 1st mvt
- Work in sections: m. 1-20 downbeat; m. 21 pickup – 35; m. 36-52; m. 53-66; m. 67-87 downbeat; m. 88 pickup – 102; m. 103-end
- Set metronome to an easy tempo – maybe 69 or slower – and play through the section
- Note where you have issues with staying with the metronome – these will be the areas to try ICU with later
- work on trills in isolation. Press down all adjacent notes with each finger, then lift and press as rapidly as possible one note of the trills, then hold that while you life and press the other note of the trill repeatedly. Do this 2-3 times overall each day
- try doing the trills in different octaves of the piano, also with pedal. You can start with just lightly tapping the tops of keys, then gradually allow yourself to press the keys, but not all the way to the key bed where it stops – just breaking the escapement bump
Venetian Boat Song –
- work on LH leaps – isolate them and practice going back and forth without looking, using the black keys to feel where you are going
