Little Joke
- Practice playing from memory, go very slowly, then repeat faster
Sonatina
- be sure you get the staccatos in m. 9 and 11
- continue hands together, now count in your head – be sure those 8th notes are twice as fast as the quarter notes
- try playing with the metronome set to 54 bpm. Count out loud along with it for 1 measure then begin playing. When you can get through the whole piece this way, try going a little bit faster (56 bpm), and then when you can do that go to 58 bpm, then stop for the day. The next day try starting at 56 bpm and repeat a little bit faster two more times.

The 3 Causes of Error:
1. Reaction: we are taken by surprise by something, either in the music or some distraction outside of us. Solution: accept that anything can happen while you play, and get back into Eagle Vision
2. Anticipation: This has two forms: Daydreaming, and Worrying about a section coming up. Solution: Get in Eagle Vision
3. Looking Back: You feel the need to look back, or go back and redo something. A lot of times you are talking to yourself (this is the “Bad Coach”). Solution: tell the coach to “get out of the pool” and get yourself back into Eagle Vision.

If you make a mistake, finish the rhythms and then think back as to which Cause of Error it was:
