Technique/Scales
Theory/Sightreading
- Theory – RCM Book 7 – continue at your own pace
- Sight Reading – for now, review Solfege names/notes using flashcards, and also improvise Solfege by looking at your keyboard that you drew, and with your index finger, slide to the left and right speaking the Solfege as your fingers passes over it. Do not skip any notes, so if you want to go from Doh to Mi, you’d slide over and say “Doh Re Mi”
- Also review Dichords
- Memorize the page I texted you for understanding the 7 different clefs we will be using
Ab major scale and arpeggios for one week, then move on to Db major
Ploger: 6-Part Lap Map p. 68 improv
- try going back to do 4-part or 5-parts to see how those go
6-part Longy Rhythm – do this without Lap Map, tapping on beat 1 only and whispering on dots. Use your good coach to remind yourself to go through the tough section first, then do entire right side, then start from beginning. When you can do this without a mistake, then you can add Lap Map
- Try to keep going if you make a mistake – identify the cause of error, and apply the correct cure in time
Repertoire
Bach Prelude in C Minor BWV 999
- Continue working on cycling through individual measures as last week – focus on the latter portion where you feel the need to slow down
- use metronome to speed up the measures individually by starting at a comfortable tempo or slightly slower, then increase tempo gradually each time you repeat. Maybe do 3-4 measures like this, then try to play them together at that last tempo marking
- Do straight play-throughs only once every couple of days
The Clear Stream – use this version The Clear Stream better copy
- work on playing in block chords – if you can do this quickly then you will be able to play it faster, and it will allow you to work on shaping dynamics
- in B section, leave out the RH A and just play with LH to get a feel for whether it’s moving in parallel, contrary, or oblique motion.
I Giorni – Ludovico Einaudi, here’s the pdf: I Giorni (original)
- Put hands together – try redistributing the LH top note to the RH thumb in the A section
- any places where you can’t redistribute, work on going very slowly and relaxing LH – don’t make it too legato
