Rhythm
- Do 5-Part Lap Map, making up your own rhythms. You can look at the Longy rhythms and choose ones you see there to try
- Then do 5-Part rhythm the “old” way
- stop if you make a mistake and figure out what the mistake was and which of the 3 causes of error it was
Scales and Technique
Play D Major Scale
- hands separately
- remember F# and C#
- pay attention to keeping your fingers really curved – think of clawing at the keys, but don’t raise your wrist

- add the slur between the first two notes, but the 2nd note is staccato

- Play UP TO TEMPO with the sheet music, paying attention to details
- Play VERY SLOWLY without the sheet music, remembering the details
- Play UP TO TEMPO without the sheet music, remembering the details
Sonatina
- continue hands together, now count in your head
- try playing with the metronome set to 54 bpm. Count out loud along with it for 1 measure then begin playing. When you can get through the whole piece this way, try going a little bit faster (56 bpm), and then when you can do that go to 58 bpm, then stop for the day. The next day try starting at 56 bpm and repeat a little bit faster two more times.
