Scales: C Major Scale 2 octaves, and A minor Scale 3 forms and chords (chords only for A minor) – print out these sheets:

Do the new  5-Part Lap Map Improv – get comfortable with this new pattern

  • pay attention to the 3 Causes of Error and applying the solution

Arabesque

  • Practice in long-short rhythms, then short-rhythms
  • Be sure you keep all fingers curved and close to the keys
  • Practice at slower tempo so you can pay attention to your technique – metronome set at 76 bpm – focus on hand posture

Repertoire

Learn Minuet in G p. 6

  • learn slowly hands separately with counting out loud, being careful of F#
  • don’t play the ornaments (the squiggly lines above some of the notes)

Gentle Breezes

  • make your dynamics more contrasting (fortes could be louder)
  • don’t rush B section – practice with metronome going from m.25-36 while counting out loud to get used to this
  • m. 57-end needs more work with counting out loud
