Scale and arpeggios – do 2 or 3 keys this week. If you feel you need more work on C, G, and D major, continue with these another week. Otherwise, go onto A, E and B major

La Caroline:

  • work on the polyrhythms: do one beat at a time. Tap LH/RH with saying “Not Diff-i-cult” with HT on “not” RH on “diff” LH on “i” and RH on “cult”. Not is a bit longer and “i” is pretty short. Then play the LH only on “not” and RH doing “Not Diff Cult”, then try to insert the “i” with the LH between “diff” and “cult”
  • work on the trills. We are doing 32nd notes, which means you will have 3 instances of the upper neighbor/main note and one instance of the termination (lower neighbor/main note). The LH plays the 8th note of the “&” beat on that third iteration of the trill, before the termination.
  • put these in your practice rotation spreadsheet. Trust in the process – it really works!
