Technique/Scales

  • G major scale and arpeggios (two 8vas) – hands separately, then together. For scales, pause at each place where you cross under/over to make sure the correct hand goes first: rh on ascending, lh on descending
  • Ploger: 6-Part Lap Map improv and 6-part Longy Rhythm (separately)

  • Do some very slow practice with this to ensure you can play the correct rhythm and notes

Arabesque p. 4 Etudes

  • Continue hands together slowly
  • try working in small sections HS with rhythms (long-short, then short-long 16th notes) – make them snappy before moving on to the next rhythm
  • work on gestures

Clementi Sonatina Op 36 No 1 mvt 1

  • play through this very slowly with metronome at around 100 bpm for 8th note. See how it feels the next day without metronome, but playing slightly under tempo still. If still problematic, do another day very slow with metronome.
