Technique/Scales
C Major Scale 2 octaves hands together slowly
- Curve fingers
- Have the hand/arm angled outward
- level wrist (not high and low), and relaxed elbows
Rhythm
- Do 5-Part Lap Map, making up your own rhythms. You can look at the Longy rhythms and choose ones you see there to try
- Then do 5-Part rhythm the “old” way
- stop if you make a mistake and figure out what the mistake was and which of the 3 causes of error it was

Unit 4 – do one part per day (remember the Lesson Day stuff other Ensemble piece are Day 6)

- Be sure to count and play VERY slowly
- try memorizing, as this will make it easier
Repertoire
Sonatina in C – Clementi
- put the whole thing hands together with counting out loud
- play with metronome at 84 bpm set to the quarter note and count while you play with this. The goal is to get Dev/Rec the same tempo with the Expo
Sacred Music Competition
Etude – Khatchaturian
- focus on page 1 for now, hands separately with counting out loud
- go slowly, and be careful of where the clefs change (all in the LH)
- try to figure out the pattern that’s happening and put hands together slowly
