Technique/Scales
B major scale (two 8va), arpeggios (two 8va) – hands separately, then together. Try to add in as much of gestures/rotation as possible. Keep fingers as curved as possible
Ploger: 6-Part Lap Map p. 68 improv
6-part Longy Rhythm – do this without Lap Map, tapping on beat 1 only and whispering on dots. Use your good coach to remind yourself to go through the tough section first, then do entire right side, then start from beginning. When you can do this without a mistake, then you can add Lap Map
- Try to keep going if you make a mistake – identify the cause of error, and apply the correct cure in time
Solfege:
- improvise solfege melodies, only stepwise motion up and down. If you want to move further up or down, you have to say all the solfege in between. Don’t worry about singing it for now, just get fluent in speaking the solfege and visualizing the keys
Theory/Sightreading
- Theory – RCM Unit 7 – go at your own pace
- Sight Reading 5 Unit 2
Ensemble piece: Saying Goodbye
Repertoire
Etude in D minor by Czerny – Etude book p. 8
- Continue metronome work – keep it going while you play
- Work on finger pedaling to help with feeling the changes in each voice, but when adding pedal back in, don’t worry about finger pedaling the RH
Bach Little Prelude in C
- Work starting from m.13 beat 4 to downbeat of m. 14, then go back an add an 8th note at a time until you get back to end of m. 12
Sonatina in C, Op. 36 No. 3 – Clementi
- Work on m. 7 with the pausing/bursts of speed, pausing on notes where LH and RH play together. Always play the downbeat of the next measure (don’t stop at the barline)
- work on transitioning into and out of difficult passages
- play with the metronome on to find places that may need attention
