  • Do 5-Part Lap Map, making up your own rhythms. You can look at the Longy rhythms and choose ones you see there to try
  • Then do 5-Part rhythm the “old” way
  • stop if you make a mistake and figure out what the mistake was and which of the 3 causes of error it was

Scales, Chords, and Technique

Play D Major Scale and Chords

  • hands separately looking at the keys, put hands together when easy
  • remember all F’s and C’s are sharped
  • use the same fingering as C major scale

Morning Prayer

  • m. 6, 8, 17, 19 remember F#
  • work any difficult measures extra until easy – start from the end so that you are less tempted to just play start to finish. You want to repeat a measure or short segment a few times in a row so that you learn it. If the section you play is too big before you repeat, you will forget what you just played, so then shorten your selection to repeat
  • try putting hands together with the easier measures

Musette

  • practice “throwing” down the arm weight on each note of the 16th note patterns. Go slowly until you are able to do this well, then each day try playing it a little faster
